Getting There

Air:
Regional providers Nature Air and Sansa run flights to and from. Another solution for guests will be to travel straight to the Daniel Oduber Airport Terminal in Liberia, significantly less than a one-hour drive from Tamarindo.

Bus:

From San Jose to Tamarindo: The Alfaro bus-line delivers everyday public transportation from San Jose. Coaches leave at 11: 3 and 30 a.m.:30 p.m. from your Alfaro Final in San Jose positioned at the intersection of Calles 14/16 and Avenida 3. The trip takes between six and eight hours and charges US$10 (5,000 CRC). Alfaro Business (2222-2666, 2255-0775.)

To Tamarindo: Travelers usually takes the La Pampa coach company from the Liberia bus terminal from Liberia. Buses leave at 3:55 a.m.; 5:15 a.m.; 8:10 a.m.; 10 a.m.; 10:10 a.m.*; 11:10 a.m.*; 1:10 p.m.; 2:10 p.m.; 4:10 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. This trip takes about 2.5 hrs and costs US$2.5 (1,275 CRC).

*Note: The 11:10 bus has a unique option and goes through Flamingo, Brasilito, Matapalo then Tamarindo (this trip requires 3 hours). La Pampa (2665-7520.)

From Santa Cruz: hop on the Traslapa bus-line that goes between Tamarindo and Santa Cruz. Traslapa (2680-0515.)

Car:
Based on highway conditions and traffic, travel-time between Tamarindo and San Jose is roughly four to five hours. Continue driving, and soon you reach the T-intersection south of Nicoya, then turn and follow signs to Nicoya and Santa Cruz. Drive through both towns and continue on the Belen, where you'll notice signs to Tamarindo. Follow signs through Santa Ana's town and cross the Retreat gas station. The following community is Huacas, accompanied by Tamarindo.
